Knee pain is a very common complaint I hear from runners. It is impossible for me to diagnose your specific problem just knowing that you’re a runner. You could have ligament damage, tendonitis, meniscal tears, etc. Since all I know is that you’re a runner, the following is a response to a question I wrote regarding IT Band Syndrome.
Iliotibial Band Syndrome, more commonly known by its initials “I.T. syndrome” is an over use injury that effects the knee, the lateral portion of the thigh, and sometimes the hip. Pain increases with activity, usually running, and subsides when the activity is stopped.

Super athletes are born with good, basic skills, but those skills must be developed to their real potential before a superstar can emerge. A super athlete is seldom ‘born’ who cannot benefit from the wisdom, coaching, expert training and advice of predecessors in the sport.
