Boy, I understand where you are coming from! My ex-husband used to remind me whenever he could that I’d be as big as my mother! or that we needed to buy a bigger toilet seat!, but these rude comments only sent my in a downward spiral of depression.

REFUSE TO LISTEN TO ANY NEGATIVE COMMENTS. IF SOMEONE SAYS ANY NEGATIVE STATEMENTS, COUNTERACT THEM WITH POSITIVE ONES IMMEDIATELY, AND BELIEVE THEM!!! Now, I try to love myself the way I am FIRST, and then consider the way I look.

Take small steps to change your self-image as soon as possible! I made a relaxation tape with positive affirmations such as, “I am lovable”, “I a wonderful person”, “I have so much to offer others”,
“Nobody can take away my love for myself except ME”, etc.

The idea here is that we respond to our own voice more than other people’s voices, and that we need to “re-write” the tapes that we play back in our minds everyday. When I did my tape, I found some relaxing music that would be the background music for the full length of one side of the tape. You can do one side with affirmations, and the other with plain music, or however you want to make it. It will be your “best friend” until you start believing it on your own! It was a bit complicated in that I had one tape player playing the music, and another recording my affirmations. Write them down ahead of time on paper.

Think of as many positive things you wish people told you, or things you want to accomplish. When you say these things on the recording, say them slowly, clearly, and with as much belief as you can, because when you hear them, you will need to hear the positive voice speaking back to you. I had so much to get over when I left my ex-husband, and I felt that I would never be loved.

I also felt that my eating was a way to punish my ex when we were together, thereby sabotaging my own feeble efforts to make the changes needed. With the tape, I was able to re-learn how to love ME! When that started, my attitude about all the other things started changing, too.

Try it! I think you will like it! It is nice to play the tape in the bath when you are relaxing with a candle and dim lights!

Or to listen in the car or when you are trying to get a nap. Your subconscience will take over even while you sleep!! Good Luck! Your potential has not even been tapped into yet!!
